Ocean Winds has released its report on the supply chain and employment impact of its Scottish Moray Firth projects at a launch event in the North East.

The report identifies value creation from the now operational Moray East offshore wind farm, the Moray West project which is in the final stages of construction activity and the early commitment to supply chain and capabilities from the Caledonia project.

These projects, all based in the Moray Firth, have more than 4 GW and represent a significant contribution to the UK’s renewable energy targets.

Ocean Winds’ UK portfolio also includes the Arven project east of Shetland, a partnership with Mainstream Renewable Power, which is in the early stages of development.

The independent analysis detailed in the report has provided an accurate overview of the socio-economic benefits of the projects.

This modeling work, carried out by BVG Associates, concludes that the development and construction of Moray East and Moray West created more than 8,000 years of full-time employment (FTE) and contributed over £700 million in GVA to the Kingdom’s economy. United.

Furthermore, forecasts suggest that over its lifetime, the Moray West Wind Farm will directly contribute £800m of spending within the Scottish economy.

More than 1,500 full-time equivalent (FTE) years will be created in Scotland during the development and construction phases of Moray West.

The launch event featured several Scottish-based suppliers who have been included as some of the 19 case studies in the report.

All have benefited from contracts to supply Ocean Winds projects in Scotland, supporting their growth in the offshore wind sector.
